Villa San Rocco

A short history of Villa San Rocco. It was a monastery in the 14th century. The villa is on one of the oldest pilgrim routes and offered rest for the weary pilgrims. The Holy Rocco stayed in Benabbio to help the poor and for this reason the villa was built in honor of his charity.

In 1688 a wealthy family from Lucca bought the monastery and turned it into a family home for 250 years in Baroque style. In 1960 the last descendant of this family died and the villa was donated to the Carlo del Prete foundation, which became an orphanage until 1990.

The villa was bought by Jonathan, England, in 2004 and he gradually renovated the villa to return to its former use as a family home in a beautiful Baroque style. It has been known for 15 years as a cozy, special, stylish and creative villa where hospitality and inspiration are the most important. Villa San Rocco is again a glorious private home with ten attractive bedrooms with its own unique theme.

We offer space for families, couples, retreats, weddings, conferences, courses and workshops. For a family gathering, a wedding or a reunion with a group of friends. There is a beautiful spacious yoga studio, rooms for workshops, a beautiful classical Italian reception room, a walled Renaissance garden, a swimming pool among the olive trees, a private chapel to bless a wedding or to meditate. We have room for twenty guests.

The Italian chefs cook with organic local products and meet everyone's dietary requirements. Two good restaurants and a shop are within walking distance. You will discover a secret corner of Tuscany that you will often want to return to!

We run the villa on the basis of donations.
